Sydney Light Rail Project, Sydney, NSW

The CBD and South East Light Rail is a new $1.6B light rail network for Sydney. The 12km route features 19 stops, extending from Circular Quay along George Street to Central Station and nearby suburbs. The stops are designed to service major transport hubs and create easy interchange points with buses, trains, ferries and the Inner West Light Rail.

Project Design Brief

As part of the project, accessible and maintainable cable infrastructure for additional lighting, communications and CCTV had to be integrated beneath the new pavements without being visually obtrusive. In some instances, these underground enclosures had to be kept at shovel depth as to not interfere with existing services.
